Mt. Desert Island is a twelve-mile-wide island accessed by bridge, about two thirds of the way up the coast of Maine. Random Ridge Cottage is located about eighteen miles from Ellsworth and fifty miles from Bangor, Maine.

 

Most people arrive via one of the following five airports, depending upon preferred airlines, schedule, other destinations, and budget.

• Bar Harbor Airport, Trenton, ME.  Seven miles – fifteen minutes away. Private jet, Silver Airlines (connects with United and JetBlue) and Cape Air (connects with Jet Blue). Car service and rental cars available.

• Bangor International Airport, Bangor, ME. 52 miles – a little over an hour away. Delta, United, American, and Allegiant. Car service and rental cars available.

• Portland International Airport, Portland, ME.  180 miles – three hours away, American, Delta, Frontier, JetBlue, Southwest, and United.    

                

• Manchester International Airport, Manchester NH. 250 miles – five hours away. American, Delta, Southwest, and United.

• Logan International Airport, Boston, MA. 270 miles – six hours away, all major airlines.
